Reporting line: IG Manager
Location: Nambinzo & Shitunguru CDP within Nambinzo Ward, Mbozi District, Songwe Region
Contract Duration: One year, January – December, 2017 (Contract could be extended subject to funding)
Duties and Responsibilities:
• Conduct business and financial literacy/management training for Income Generation program participants especially coffee farmers
• Organize, conduct and coordinate conferences, seminars, workshops and other events for Income-Generation participant groups especially coffee farmers
• Develop and foster networks with other coffee farmers group in Nambinzo ward.
• Partner with project groups to effectively plan, implement, and monitor Income Generation activities in Nambinzo ward regularly
• Supporting coffee farmers with agricultural inputs as microfinance loans
• Keeping up-to-date knowledge of pests and diseases
• Ensuring that coffee farming activities is profitable and meets some projected financial targets
• Conduct market research and write proposals for coffee and some of coffee products in order to develop income generation activities.
• Monitoring every stage of preparatory stages and make sure are aligned with training provided with the consultant
• Make sure all agricultural inputs which was given as loan to them are used efficiently and accordingly to the instructions given by the consultant
• Make sure that power tillers and trailers are used properly for coffee project and not other activities
• Collecting loans repayment from coffee Income Generation Groups and records the revenue collected in every stage.
• Writing a report and share it with a manager at the Head Office.
• Frequently monitoring of the coffee farms of the beneficiaries.
• Collect and write reports of agricultural activities in Nambinzo and Shitungulu CDPs.
• Promoting collaboration in the implementation of Agricultural projects and programs in Nambinzo ward.
• Capacity building and backstopping on community mobilization in area of specialization.
• Promoting consultative forum with various stakeholders and collaborators within the ward.
• Organizing field days, demonstrations, shows, exhibitions and farmer tours.
• Establishment and management of information desks in Nambinzo and Shitungulu CDPs.
• Handling paperwork and keeping administrative records.
• Schedule and participate in regular meetings with Coffee Income Generation group beneficiaries.
• Identify performance/profit gaps in group activities and provide recommendations for improvement.
• Prepare and submit timely semi-annual, monthly, and weekly reports
• Other tasks assigned by Authorities.
Competencies and Qualification
• Degree in Agriculture or in a related field with experience in similar field of agriculture.
• Experience in community organizing and farmers/ income generation groups formulation.
• Experience in supporting farmers.
• Experience in developing entrepreneurial skills and marketing agricultural product.
• Experience with coffee production will be added advantage.
